As our students graduate Year 12, it’s natural for them—and their families—to feel a mix of excitement and pressure. The final year of school brings new opportunities as well as the challenge of preparing for the HSC. During this time, the support of family and school makes a big difference in helping students manage stress in healthy and constructive ways.

Tips for Families to Support Students:

Keep routines steady – Regular sleep, balanced meals, and downtime help students stay energised and focused.

Encourage balance – Study is important, but so are sport, exercise, hobbies, and spending time with friends.

Provide a calm environment – A quiet space to study and open conversations at home can reduce stress.

Normalise emotions – Reassure your child that feeling nervous or overwhelmed at times is normal and part of the process.

Focus on effort, not just outcomes – Celebrate persistence, resilience, and small achievements along the way.

Stay connected – Encourage them to talk with teachers, counsellors, or trusted adults if they’re feeling anxious.

At CSBB, we are committed to supporting every student through this important year. Together, with encouragement at home and at school, we can help our students thrive—not just academically, but in their wellbeing and confidence as young adults.

If you ever have concerns about your child’s wellbeing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your school.
