Battle of the Chefs 2026

What an outstanding day at the Catholic Schools Broken Bay Battle of the Chefs 2026, proudly hosted by St Peter’s Catholic College. The event brought together talented Year 11 and 12 Hospitality students, showcasing creativity, teamwork and technical excellence in a live industry-style environment.

Competing in teams of three, students were challenged to design and prepare a Modern Australian café-style main dish alongside a technically refined trifle dessert, all within a timed kitchen setting. Teams were assessed on taste, presentation, hygiene, creativity and teamwork, reflecting authentic hospitality industry standards.

Congratulations to our 2026 winners:

1st Place – St Peter’s Catholic College
2nd Place – Mater Maria Catholic College
3rd Place – St Brigid’s Catholic College

Director’s Dish of the Day:

Mr Anthony Iacovazzi and Mr Kurt Sonneman

A special acknowledgement to Anthony Iacovazzi, guest judge from TAFE, a proud St Peter’s Catholic College alumnus and former School Captain. Anthony was a member of the winning Battle of the Chefs team in 2023, and his journey is a strong example of pathways in action. Since graduating, he has continued his Hospitality studies with TAFE, achieved industry recognition through award success, and has now been offered a scholarship opportunity to work in London. His story provides an inspiring example for students pursuing careers in the hospitality industry.

Thank you to St Peter’s Catholic College for hosting this event, and to all coordinators, teachers and support staff for their work in making the day possible.

Most importantly, congratulations to all participating students, whose professionalism, commitment and teamwork ensured the success of the competition.

The standard of work on display highlights the strength of Hospitality pathways and the bright future ahead for these young professionals.
