The Diocese of Broken Bay gathered this week in a spirit of unity to celebrate a milestone year and honour the people who continue to shape Catholic education across the region. Marking the 40th anniversary of the Diocese, the event also welcomed the Catholic Schools NSW Message Stick as it began its journey through Broken Bay; a sacred symbol of communication, trust, and connection for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The gathering highlighted the Diocese’s shared mission to inspire hearts and minds to know Christ and to love learning, bringing together staff, leaders, and community members in a moment of reflection and purpose.

During the celebration, new staff and newly appointed leaders were formally commissioned by Bishop Anthony, while long serving employees were recognised for their extraordinary commitment to Catholic education, with service milestones of 25, 35, 40, 45 and 60 years acknowledged.

The Diocese expressed deep gratitude for the gifts and talents each person brings to its schools, noting the profound impact of their dedication on generations of students.

Looking ahead, the event also reaffirmed the Diocese’s commitment to Shaping Tomorrow, Together in Faith, and acknowledged the honour of hosting the Catholic Schools NSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Conference in October 2027, a significant moment for both Broken Bay and Catholic education across the state.
