We are proud to introduce one of our new Principals for Catholic Schools Broken Bay, for Eileen O’Connor Catholic School, Northbridge.

Karen Pezzuto began her journey in Broken Bay in 2000 and has served in school leadership for nearly 20 years, including roles as Religious Education Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and in Learner Diversity. Most recently, Ms Pezzuto led the Evangelisation & Catechesis workstream focused on developing and implementing the Religious Education Curriculum across our schools.  Ms Pezzuto is deeply passionate about bringing Christ to all and celebrating the unique, God given gifts present in every individual.

To help our community get to know Ms Pezzuto a little better, we asked our new Principal, a number of questions about her journey and vision for the school.

What inspired your path into education?

I was inspired by the belief that every learner can flourish. Watching the impact that dedicated educators can have on a young person’s confidence and future sparked my commitment to creating environments where all students can succeed.

What are you most excited for in your role as Principal?

I’m enthusiastic about leading a vibrant school community and working alongside staff, students and families to strengthen learning, wellbeing and belonging. The opportunity to shape a clear vision and bring it to life is exciting.

How do you engage parents/carers, students and staff?

I engage our community through open communication, active listening and building relationships founded on trust and respect.

What do you hope to achieve as Principal at your school?

My goal is to build on the great work that already exists where every learner feels known, safe and inspired. I hope to see strong learning growth, embed high quality teaching practice, and nurture faith and wellbeing.

What will you hope to leave as your legacy in education leadership?

I hope to leave a legacy of compassionate, student centred leadership—where staff feel empowered, families feel welcomed, and students feel deeply supported to reach their full potential.
