Young Achievers Teacher Training Scholarship
For high-achieving Year 12 students from Catholic Schools in and around the Broken Bay diocese (Sydney’s North Shore, Northern Beaches and the Central Coast), this scholarship provides $20,000 over the course of a 4-year teaching degree, plus paid 1-day per week employment as a classroom assistant under the guidance of a mentor teacher. This increases to 2-days per week as a conditionally accredited teacher in your final year of study.
About the Program
The Young Achievers Teacher Training Scholarship gives you a supported, practice-embedded pathway that strengthens your confidence and readiness for teaching. Open to current Year 12 students entering a NESA-accredited, four-year undergraduate Initial Teacher Education program at an Australian university, this scholarship supports passionate, high-potential future educators ready to make a real impact. Scholarships focus on:
- Aspiring Secondary teachers specialising in:
- Maths
- English
- Science (Physics and Chemistry preferred)
- Technology and Applied Sciences
- Religious Education
- Special Education
- Aspiring Primary teachers specialising in:
- Religious Education
- Special Education
Eligibility Criteria
We are committed to excellence and we’re looking for future teachers who are too. Applicants should be on track for:
- ATAR 80+
- At least 3 Band 5 results in any subjects
- Band 5 result in English
- At least Band 4 result in Mathematics
To remain in the scholarship program, candidates must maintain a credit average and achieve satisfactory results in all Professional Experience Placements.
Financial Support
- $20,000 over four years, which includes $5,000 per annum for four consecutive years of study in a NSW Initial Teacher Education Program.
- Paid employment 1-day per week as a classroom assistant under the Learning Support Assistant classification for the first 3 years
- Paid employment 2-days per week as a conditionally-accredited teacher in your final year of study
