Students with an ATAR which placed them in the top three at their school attended the ceremony, along with their parents.
Each student was individually recognised with a certificate and Mr Peter Hamill, Director of Schools, acknowledged that the evening celebrated both students and their teachers and acknowledged the culmination of years of hard work.
“We know that the students will remember much more about their teachers than simply the science, history or mathematics they were taught. They will remember the people their teachers were,” he said.
He also acknowledged the input of parents as the “first and most important teachers of their children.”
When he congratulated the leavers, he added, “I look forward with interest and enthusiasm to the important contribution you will make to the Australian community, and to our world.”
