Our Exemplary Teacher Incentive Program contributes to the realisation of CSBB’s vision of “authentic, professional Catholic education, delivered with care and compassion,” and aspiration to be “at least as good as the very best.”  As a strategic aspect of future workforce planning, the Program aims to attract the best and brightest to the teaching profession and address specific areas of workforce need.

From Year 12 leavers with teaching aspirations, to mid-degree pre-service teachers (PSTs) and new graduates – there is an incentive for everyone.

CSBB Young Achievers Teacher Training Scholarship/Internship (YATTS) – Year 12 Leavers

A combined scholarship/internship for Year 12 leavers from CSBB Schools, with a strong academic record and a demonstrated passion for working with children, seeking to enrol in select undergraduate teaching degrees.

Scholarship support for students seeking to enrol in one of the following:

  • Primary teaching degree (with a willingness to undertake accreditation to teach Religious Education)
  • Secondary Education degree majoring in Religious Education
  • Secondary Education degree majoring in Maths (extension), Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), or TAS at any University

Who can apply?

Current Year 12 students from CSBB Schools, anticipating an ATAR of 80 or above.

 What’s on offer?

  • Five (5) scholarships available per year
  • Total of $20,000 distributed over four (4) years
  • Potential employment as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) or paraprofessional during the first 3 years of study
  • Paid internship (0.4 FTE/2 days per week employment) during final year of study
  • Opportunity for indentured conditionally permanent full-time teaching position in CSBB on course completion
  • Lap-top/device for duration of scholarship/internship period

YATTS Application Form

CSBB Targeted Teacher Scholarship/Internship (TTI) – Mid-degree Pre-service Teachers

Scholarship/Internship support for undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education students studying:

  1. Primary (K-6) Education and willing to undertake accreditation to teach Religious Education

OR

  1. Secondary (7-12) Education and specialising in the following subject areas:
  • Religious Education
  • Mathematics (extension preferred)
  • English
  • Science (Physics/Chemistry/Biology)
  • Senior computing: software design and information processes technology
  • Technology and Applied Studies
  • Learning Support
  • Music

Who can apply?

Undergraduate or Postgraduate Teacher Education Students who are:

  • Specialising in one of the above subjects
  • Entering their third year of an undergraduate teaching degree or second year of a postgraduate teaching degree in 2023.

What’s on offer?

  • Five (5) scholarships/internships per year
  • $5,000 grant per year of study remaining
  • Opportunity for paid (0.2FTE/1 day per week) employment as a Learning Support Assistant or paraprofessional until conditionally accredited with NESA
  • Opportunity for paid (0.4FTE/2 days per week) internship as a classroom teacher once conditionally accredited, during remaining period of study
  • Opportunity for indentured, conditionally permanent full-time teaching position in CSBB on course completion
  • Lap-top/device for duration of scholarship/internship period

Exemplary Teacher Grants (ETG) – conditionally accredited Pre-service Teachers and new graduates

Grants to incentivise quality pre-service and new graduate  teachers, conditionally accredited or eligible for conditional accreditation by the end of 2022, to commit to employment within CSBB for any remaining period of study and their first 2 years of teaching.

Who can apply?

The Exemplary Teacher Grants are for undergraduate or post-graduate, primary or secondary teacher education students or new graduates who:

  1.  Are conditionally accredited with NESA (or are eligible to apply by the end of 2022)
  2.  Are in their final or penultimate year of a teacher education degree
  3.  Have maintained a sound academic record throughout their degree (preferred credit-average or above)

What’s on offer?

  • Up to ten (10) ETG grants worth $5000 each
  • Opportunity for conditionally permanent full-time teaching position in CSBB on course completion
  • A potential final professional experience placement in a CSBB school, if required
  • Guaranteed (0.2FTE/1 day per week) part-time employment as a classroom teacher during any remaining period of study

Professional Experience Placements

Kick-start your teaching Career with a professional experience placement in Catholic Schools Broken Bay (CSBB). Coached by one of our carefully selected teaching practitioners and expert mentors, you will be learning your craft from some of the best.

We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality placement experiences, working collaboratively with our feeder universities to ensure the best outcomes for pre-service teachers.

Please contact your University’s Professional Experience Placement Team to request a placement in one of our schools.

 

Paraprofessional Program

In partnership with several Universities, Teacher Education Students now have the opportunity to be employed in Catholic Schools Broken Bay as para-professionals from as early as their second year of study. Para-professionals are part of a long-term plan to address the teacher shortage and secure the best and brightest future educators to our system. Para-professionals are offered paid, casual employment in one or more of our 44 primary and secondary schools across the North Shore, Northern Beaches, and Central Coast. They can gain extensive in-school experience, supporting current teachers to plan and deliver high-quality learning to all students. Para-professionals can nominate their availability to fit around their university studies and other commitments and are supported to complete practicum placements with our schools where possible.
