What 3 words sum up “Why CSBB is special to me?”

“To Know Christ”

How has your career journey happened so far?

I have worked in Catholic Education since 1996, predominantly in this diocese. I have taught in 5 Broken Bay Schools in varying roles including Learning Support, Religious Education Coordinator and Assistant Principal. In 2019 I joined the Evangelisation and Catechesis team. It was this role that led me to assist in leading the implementation of a new Religious Education Curriculum for CSBB.

How is your work making a difference?

In the last couple of years, I have received feedback from both staff and students about the impact the work they are doing in the Religious Education Curriculum has impacted their personal faith journey. We are blessed to work in a community that allows us to continue to deepen our relationship with Christ and it is special to be a part of this.

What motivates you?

I LOVE learning and I love seeing other people learn. This position allows me to work with such a variety of people and learning alongside them gives me the energy I need to keep going every day.

Who do you look to for inspiration?

It’s mostly the students in our schools who inspire me, along with their amazing teachers who show courage, persistence, dedication, and a willingness to grow and learn every day.

How do you continue to grow and develop as a leader?

By being vulnerable, stepping out of my comfort zone and working closely with others (I love teamwork). Reflective practice is an essential part of growth. Prayer also plays a vital role. Some guidance from the Holy Spirit goes a long way!

Thank you to Karen for taking the time to talk with us today and for the work on our Religious Education curriculum! We are so inspired by your work and thankful for your contribution to Catholic Schools Broken Bay.
