In 2013 the then Bishop of Broken Bay, Most Rev David Walker announced the decision to realise his vision to establish a new Catholic secondary college at Lake Munmorah. St Brigid’s Catholic College opened to Year 7 students and their families in 2014 and in 2016 has Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 students.
The College provides affordable Catholic schooling to the highest standard for local families including the areas of Blue Haven, Budgewoi, Buff Point, Chain Valley Bay, Gwandalan, Halekulani, Lake Munmorah, San Remo, Summerland Point and Wyee Point.
The college is named after St Brigid (451-525), a great Irish saint who was a contemporary of St Brendan (484-577). This name provides a direct connection with the broader Lake Munmorah community it serves, and with St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School.
St Brigid’s pride themselves on being a welcoming school community that values the close relationships between staff, parents and students.
The College motto Inflaming hearts and minds in Christ is about the belief that St Brigid’s is a hope-filled community of learners, where all are respected, challenged and supported to be the very best person they can be. It is hoped that our students are impassioned and that their hearts and minds are set afire with the love of life and learning through the experiences that are offered to them at the College.
