Staff and students at Holy Cross Catholic School Kincumber helped their community last year with two initiatives: a fundraising drive for the drought effort and the ‘You Can Sit With Me’ anti-bullying initiative.
The school collected generous donations of clothing and funds for the drought-affected people in New South Wales, and held fundraising events including a cake stall, family barbeque, and dress-up week.
Families were also invited to ‘go without’ a luxury item for a week and donate the cost to the cause.
Assistant Principal Chris Franklin drove to St Michael’s Catholic Primary School in Manilla in rural New South Wales to present the Principal, Karen Keys, with the clothing and a cheque for the $2703.95 raised.
The money was used to ease the financial burden of drought-affected students at St Michael’s by assisting with everyday expenses and uniform costs.
