The College Captains and Principal of St Paul’s Catholic College Manly were amongst several schools invited to Kirribilli House for morning tea with the Prime Minster who hosted this gathering in order to meet and thank school leaders.
Mr Abbot spoke to the school captains about the quality of leadership and referred to his own school days and what he saw as the purpose of schooling, which is to produce good citizens; citizens who can take an active role in making their community a better place.
The College Captains, Connor Barham and Tom Newcombe, met and spoke with the Prime Minister. Tom commented “it was a wonderful experience, we heard Mr Abbot speak about the importance of leadership. He gave his valuable time to take photos and speak with us throughout the morning for which we are truly grateful. I thoroughly enjoyed the company of the other school captains, recounting past memories and imagining our possible futures. The grounds of Kirribilli house were also simply surreal and this occasion joins the list of my highlights in Year 12.”
