The Pope has called to make Ash Wednesday, March 2, a special day of prayer and fasting for peace.
Wednesday, 2 March is Ash Wednesday.
A reminder that Ash Wednesday, along with Good Friday, is a day of penance, and abstinence from meat is to be observed by those who have completed their fourteenth year of age. Those who are aged between 18 and 60 fast on these days.
In addition to this, and in response to the unfolding crisis in the Ukraine, the Pope called on all believers and people of good will to make Ash Wednesday, March 2, a special day of prayer and fasting for peace.
