End of Term Message Director of Schools

September 21, 2023

Dear Staff, Students and Families

As we bid farewell to this term, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the journey we have undertaken collectively across our 44 schools.

We began our term with over 65 CSBB students participating in World Youth Day, Portugal. I had the privilege of attending and was profoundly inspired. To be witness to the enthusiasm and dedication from both our staff and students reaffirmed my belief in the incredible potential of our young people. It is a heartening reminder that the future lies in the capable hands of our youth who are deeply committed to their faith and their passion for making positive changes in our world. As Director of Schools, I am more resolute than ever in our mission to provide an environment where every student can flourish academically, spiritually and personally.

From senior students to Kindergarten, I am always delighted to have the opportunity to visit the students in our schools. This term I was privileged to be part of some very special anniversary celebrations with St Rose, Collaroy marking their 50th year, St Kieran’s at Manly Vale their 70th year and St John the Baptist Woy Woy celebrating a remarkable 100 years. It was wonderful to meet with some of our staff, students and parents, past and present and learn about their wonderful journey.

Term 3 is also traditionally recruitment season for the approaching new year and we have been overwhelmed with the quality of candidates we are seeing come through. We asked some of our existing staff to help us with our recruitment campaign – hear what they have to say about working with us. We look forward to sharing our new staff members with all later this year.

There are so many achievements we celebrate today – all the result of hard work, innovative approaches and a passion for learning. From academic excellence to fostering creativity, inclusivity, and holistic development, we regularly share our achievements with all across the diocese in the quarterly magazine BBNews which you can view here. I hope you enjoy reading more about CSBB schools.

The end of Term 3 sees our year 12 students officially finishing their formal schooling in anticipation of the upcoming HSC exams. We are very proud of all our senior students and hope that they have enjoyed the many graduations and celebrations this term that mark this important milestone. Please keep our students in your prayers as they approach this important time in their schooling life. I have recorded a special message for our year 12 cohort of 2023 and share this here.

As we set our sights on the forthcoming term, I have no doubt that we will continue to build on our successes. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every teacher, staff member, students and families for your extraordinary contributions and wish you all a restful and rejuvenating break.

Take care
