GATEway Project

September 26, 2016

St Patrick’s Catholic School in Asquith recently hosted the GATEway (Gifted & Talented Enrichment) Project day for twenty Stage 2 students from Prouille Catholic School, Wahroonga; Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School, Waitara; St Bernard’s Catholic School, Berowra and St Patrick’s Catholic School, Asquith.  The focus of the GATEway Day was coding and robotics.

The educational program for the day was developed collaboratively by Kathleen Quinn, Class Teacher at St Patrick’s, Asquith and John Hession, Education Officer – eLearning K-12.  The day provided an opportunity for students to build knowledge and refine their skills around coding and robotics by engaging in a range of hands-on problem-solving activities requiring access to BeeBots, Scratch and Edison Robots.

Parents of students involved in the GATEway Day were invited to join the group towards the end of the day and enjoy a student-led tour of learning.
