Hub for 21st Century Learners

September 10, 2015

Grant Denyer, host of the Great Australian Spelling Bee on Channel 10, and his TV crew visited Mercy Catholic College at Chatswood recently. He was here to congratulate the College on winning one of fifteen Commonwealth Bank National Teaching Awards, valued at $10,000 each.

The College will use the grant to create a Finance Hub, a flexible working space for 21st century learners, which will connect Commerce students with Year 6 students to help improving financial literacy and money management skills across a range of ages.

Year 9 Commerce students will in turn be mentored by female business leaders in the community.

Year 6 students from the local Catholic Primary School, Our Lady of Dolours, also appeared on the TV segment alongside their teacher Alix McKittrick who had worked on the successful project last year with Terrie Franklin, Business Studies and Economics teacher at Mercy.
