Each year in May, all members of the St Mary’s Catholic School Community at Toukley are invited to come together to celebrate their school feast day for Mary Help of Christians.
Beginning with a school mass and followed by a variety of activities, the day is a time for students to learn more about Mary while also strengthening the link between school and parish.
In a first this year they were able to celebrate their feast day with an outdoor mass in front of a beautiful new statue of Mary, installed last year.
On a fabulous May morning students and teachers along with many parents and parishioners celebrated mass with their Parish Priest Fr Peter De Souza who was joined by Fr Alex Barnedo and Fr Gregory Butelo. The mass was a powerful sacred experience for all in attendance, a parishioner supplied a terrific sound system and the school choir provided a reverent but celebratory atmosphere for the celebration.
Mass was followed by a full day of activities along with the students enjoying a BBQ lunch cooked by a parent team of volunteers.
