To reach the Final Gala day the mixed team played other schools from all over NSW. After initial losses in the first two rounds, the team then proceeded undefeated throughout the rest of the tournament; playing 7 games in total.
In the Final, St Leo’s came up against a strong team from Hunter Sports High who comprised of a number of representative players. The boys and girls from St Leo’s players remained strong and composed, holding on for a 2-1 win in a very tight and tough tussle
Player of the Final was deservedly awarded to John Anderson from St Leo’s with Alec Arnold, Team Captain, collecting the gala day trophy. Lachlan Henrisson and Keeley Bowen were jointly awarded Best & Fairest Players for the whole day’s play and Gabbi Chan received the coaches award for Most Improved.
Mr Nathan Smith, HSIE teacher and Coach on the day congratulated the Year 11 and Year 12 boys and girls on this wonderful achievement commenting “it was well deserved win, our defense in particular were tested and delivered throughout with Hunter having plenty of the ball.”
