Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School, Forestville recently participated in a Mission Awareness Day to experience life in the shoes of others less fortunate.
Classes spent the day without lights, electricity, desks, books or coloured pencils. Some classes completed all their work on one piece of paper using only one lead pencil for the day. Kindergarten completed maths tasks using twigs and leaves. Other classes had lessons outside and used limited resources to support their learning. Lunch consisted of a bowl of rice or bread to eat. Although students and staff may have been a little hungry they all agreed it was a worthwhile and humbling experience.
