Schools from around NSW descended on the Anne Clark Sporting Centre at Lidcombe on Tuesday 16 September to contest the 2014 Schools Netball Cup State Final.
The team from St Mary’s Catholic School, Toukley, took out the titles of Central Coast Champions followed by Hunter Champions along the way to secure a spot in the State final.
The team, made up of students Mia, Leah, Maddi, Shae, Milla, Lexi, Shona and Pania were undefeated throughout their 16 games and beat Gerringong 19-3 in the semi-final to secure a spot in the final against Orange. As a result of some exceptional team work Toukley came from behind in the last quarter to take over the lead and with a final score of 10-6 were crowned the 2014 Schools Netball Cup Champions.
Kevin Williams, Principal, commented that the girls displayed “outstanding teamwork, resilience, excellent sportspersonship, trust in each other and did not get their heads down when behind 5-2 in the final”. He also congratulated Mrs Walker on her success as team coach.
